Happy Christmas One and All!

Firstly, as I won't get a chance to post this before Christmas, Happy Christmas to all my readers, friends and enemies and a happy new year to you all! Enjoy it!

Well, this is very exciting - I believe this to be the first post I will make from home on my new broadband connection! I am currently home alone, listening to my very loud collection, typing this blog, and I have just broken up for the Christmas holidays! boy do I need. I can't believe that I have been at downfield so long! Its now the Christmas holidays, I have two weeks and then I go back and do modules for psychology and IT! OMG! (makes notes to revise!) Anyway, I need the break because I have been doing so much work these last couple of days what with essays and coursework essays and minutes and now the choir Christmas season is on-line so I will be even more busy lol - not that I am complaining cos I love it! I suppose that rhis isn;t really going to be a news update or a diray entry, as the main reason for the blog was the title! :)

My IQ - 118!

I just thought the world might like to know that According to the Tickle On-line Free Classic IQ test, I have an IQ of 118.

I was slightly bored so I took an IQ test on Tickle. I had to guess some questions lol cos they were so confusing and I couldn't work them out, but I definitely knew the answers for some lol! Anyway, after In had signed up and registered, and then registered again, the screen told me that I had an IQ of 118. On the last IQ test i took I had an IQ of 99, so I am pleased. I have looked on Google to try and find out what my score means in terms of intelligence, but I couldn't find anything except the paragraph, below.

According to www.extremeintellect.com/ei2007/IQ/historyiqtests.htmlA, "IQs range from 85 to 115 (According to the Stanford-Binet scale). Only approximately 1% of the people in the world have an IQ of 135 or over. Half of the population have IQ’s of between 90 and 110".

I am assuming that 118 is quite a high score? Comment please and tell me what you think?

I Have Broadband :))

I Love Orange. I was going to go for the £35 a month orange dolphin package, with a free phone, free unlimited texts, unlimited free calls to my magic number, 550 minutes a month, free orange Wednesdays cinema ticket and free orange broadband for my house, but I didn't. I don't know why really, seems to good to be true. Oh yes I do, i was sooo impatient for Broadband, I signed up for it alone. I was also worried about the cost of £35 a month for 18 months, as it is a contract. So I didn't go for the contract. Instead I am sticking with my old phone, same deal - top up by £15 a month and get free texts in the evenings and weekends from 7pm to 7am - and paying Orange £15 a month for Broadband Basic.
If I had gone for the Orange dolphin deal, I could have paid £5 a month on top of that i.e. £40 a month and gotten Broadband Unlimited, but that was going to be a wee bit expensive, so I didn't go for that.
So, anyway I have Orange Broadband Basic at a speed of 2.2 Mb/s, which makes me a very happy person. I had a panic attack when I opened the tiny weeny little box that they had sent me, and saw a tiny farty little cable that was supposed to connect pc to the phone box thingy at the bottom of the door frame (where you plug in the phone lol!). MY pc is upstairs, and there is a cable that connects the box to my pc, it goes up through the wall to another box on the wall in my bedroom. Well, I plugged ion the cable they had given me into the box at the bottom of the downstairs door frame, and was somewhat disappointed (gutted) to find out that the cable they had given me hardly got to the top of the door frame, let alone up through the wall and into my bedroom. BUT, as Orange had given me 2 filters, I was able to solve the problem and get all the cables plugged into their proper places and get Broadband working. I was very happy. Delighted in fact. I was very nearly on or through the ceiling, with so much jumping upo and down. Yesterday was the first day that I had broadband, and I have already:
Downloaded updates for MacAffee Virus Scans
" Windows Live Messenger
" Firefox
Updated Bebo (not finished yet)
Checked my emails
Imaged Searched
Installed Various Addons for Firefox
Played some Games
Listened to Launch Player
Read some blogs
Installed lots of Updates
Enjoyed the speed of my always on internet connection!

I am so happy, I love broadband, and I will be on-line for ages now. Messenger here I come. This dopes mean, of course that I can blog more. (It doesn't mean to say that I will of course!!) I have so much to do at the moment, what with coursework and essays and IT, but when I get round to it I will blog some more of my life. Its very exciting! Thats about all I can be bothered to write, so go and celebrate my happiness people! :))

A New Computer // Back by popular demand / lies all lies!

Hello. I am currently sitting at the computer (surprisingly) typing a new post becuase one missy k told me, and becuase I AM SO INCREDIBLY EXCITED ABOUT MY NEW PC. I ordered it on tuesday night, and i just checked the dell website and it says it has shipped! this means that it will be hear by monday of half term! :) and then i will get orange broadband on orange dolphin and a free phone and it will be fre broadband and unlimited texts and i am very excited! ok, so my new pc is coming two days earlier than expected, and may be here by tommorow!!!!!! As you may have huiessed I am very excited!
Ok, so thats one thing that is happening in my life, and as my free hasn;t ended yet, i will tyoe some more. i really have nothing to do.
The stay awake was fun. And i have been posting on my friends blog http://lilmissbloggsalot.blogspot.com/2006/10/hit-me-around-face-with-insult-why.html so read about the stay awake here, and don't read the snj article becuase it is rubbish and they edited it, and sisn;t use any of my pictures that i spent over an hour sending to them on dial up. oh and i am getting free braodband about 10 days after my new pc comes, so i will be online al the time then! and don't belive everything you read! the snj had better print my pictures in nexts week edition otherwise i am going to shoot them with a rusty spoon! anyway, taht is enough ranting. i can't wait for bb, finally.
Anyway, the stay awake. Doesn't everyone love neighbours? Neighbours is such a great soup, no soap. Sorry, just very excited, but it is such a shame that Catia has died. Woops, sorry shouldn't have said taht. Australia neighbours is about three months ahead lol so tahts how i know! just ignore my wild random rantings!
and everyone else seems to be playing games, so i may go and do this too. and when i get broadband i will post everything that is going on ion my head, suing my new keyboard and my new interent connection called broadband! can't wait! oh and if any/everyone wants to comment then go ahead! alomg as you are not a computer and can actually type in the aut code, you can post somehitng, but if it is rude or oofensive then i will delete it!
oh, and my quote of teh day: "Launch yahoo is like i tunes except that it plays music" silly or what. if you don't know what is launch then yahoo it (not google it, it is launches company). and actually, this should be the quote of last month lol, so much time has gone past at downfield! omg i have been here for over a month, and its gone so fast! i have mods in january, and omg its going so quickly! as you can see, my hypertension state of excitemnet has affected my normally flawless state of typing quickly (!!!) and my ability to hit the tab key for a new paragraph. well, life goes on! have fun cya soon :) :) :)

Life at Downfield

I love it! As you probably know, I am now at Downfield, as I got the required amount of GCSEs. English is great - of course - and I am studying Spies with Mrs Dale, and Othello with Mr Hannam.
I have had Mrs Dale before for English, and she is a very good teacher. Mr Hannam is a SHS teacher, so I have not had him before, and I don't know what he is like. He seems friendly enough, but he is not teaching us anything yet. (This is mainly because I have the same copy of Othell as him, which is a guide version and contains notes and things to help me understand the text. He just reads these out to the whole class to not down).
My IT teacher is Mr Leadly, another SHS teacher. He is rubbish, and almost as bad as Bobby at Marling, who didn't-teach-me anything for GCSE. (I got an A* in IT because 60% is cw, and I went into the exam with at least a B, thanks to Mr Bobby being such an easy person to please when it comes to CW). Anyway. Mr Leadly. We basically just get power point presentations, which show us what is exactly in the little book he gives us to read each week. Its boring, but probably still easy to pass.
And now we come to one of my favourite subjects: Ethcis/Philosophy. This is my new choice this year, and I love it so much. It really is me. I have two teachers for this subject, and they are fab. Miss Warren is great, and she is teaching me the Philosophical aspect.
//That is all I have time for at the moment, so come back soon and read the next thrilling instalment of Life at Downfield, when I had a chance to write it. //

A News Update. (mainly exams!)

Well it seems as if I have been away for a long time, as I haven't posted for ages. So I decided to change this. I am now going to fill you in on my life, telling you what has been happening in my world for the last year or so (it seems like a year ago when I last posted).

Exams:
I have now finished most of my exams, which is very exciting. Cripes, it feels so long ago. 6 months ago we were all thinking 'oh we have ages to go to exams.' Then I realised I had a week to go. Thought I had better start revising, but I didn't. I didn't do any revision in the easter half term, which I kicked my self for afterwards. I didn't make me a revision timetable, like most of my teachers recommmended me to do. I didn't do very much revision, to tell the truth. However, most of my exams went well, if not very well, and I am very confident that I got at least a 'c' grade in all of them for the final result.
The bad exams were maths and re. Maths paper 1 was a complete disaster, the paper was hard, i found it very difficult and I got about 35 out of 100, which is not great. It's not even good. I came out of the sports hall and went 'oh sh1t'. The maths paper 2 was better, I think i got about 60 out of 100 at least, so hopefully made up my marks, so hopefully I will have got a 'c' at least. I did have a calculator on paper 2 though, so was able to work out the majority of sums. I know I am not very good at maths, but this still didn't make me feel any better.
RE was also not very good. I had't revised anything about hinduism before the exam, I couldn't even remember what their holy book is in the exam, so when I was asked to write about two religions i 3 of the questions to get a total of 48 marks I coulkdn't very well, so I just wrote christians and hindus believe. Never mind, i really don't care about a half gsce in re short course.
Science and geography were by far the easiest papers of them all. Science 1 was very easy, although the Pie chart was a trick question because the ANGLES DIDN'T ADD UP TO 360 DEGREES. It added up to 340, so i nearly lost some marks there. Luckily i added up all the degrees so i worked it out. And the teachers say that the exam board is not out to trick us, just test us. Hmm. Anyway, that's all I can be bothered to write at the moment, so that's all you will get at the moment. I will do another update sooner or later, and knowing me it will probably be later. Yeah well. That's me.

Football

Category: Rant

On the news today one of the stories was that the Newcastle boss had been fired because the club had lost some match or other. I don’t know the full story because I don’t follow football, and I will come onto that in a minute.
My initial thoughts on this are that it is unfair. I do not think that the manager should be sacked just because the club lost a match or two. OK, so the manager trains the players and works with them to make them better, so that they can win the match. But other than make substitutions on the pitch, all the manager does is to sit in a chair and watch the match, plus the usual team talk at half time. Just because the club lost a match doesn’t make it the managers fault. It is mainly about the players on the pitch, and how they performed on the day. There are all sorts of different variables that could have made them perform badly or worse, and so they lost the match. It could be that the other team are at a higher standard than the first team, and so they won on ability. If anyone should be fired or sacked in my opinion it would be the goalie. I mean, at the end of the day it is his job to stop the ball going in the net, so the other team can’t win. If anyone has failed the team or let them down, it would be the goalie. It just isn’t fair. It would be a much better decision to get rid of some of the crappy players that don’t score goals, and then get rid of the manager. Although he trains the team, he can’t be responsible for every player’s actions on the pitch at one particular time, and he simply can’t control what happens in the match. If his team wins or looses is down to a) chance and b) the player’s performance, which can be influenced by all sorts of things.
The BBC also ran a report on the manager’s record. Apparently, Newcastle have played 56 matches I seem to remember, but lost 22 or some number with a 2 at the beginning. This doesn’t seem too bad to me. It means the team won 34. 34 out of 56 is 62%, which I suppose could be better. They also mentioned the large bill that he ha run up. Apparently the bloke spent 9 million on some player, and some huge sum of figure on Michael Owen, who is out with injury. The BBC said that he had run up a total of £50 million pounds. This is really what gets my blood all boiled up.

£50 million pounds. Lets just put that into perspective. £50 million ponds. £50 million pounds. 50 MILLION POUNDS. That is one hell of a lot of money. The man, from what I can tell, spent this colossal sum of money on two players. TWO PLAYERS. Michael Owen has only made a couple of appearances because he is injured, and the foreign bloke hasn’t done much better either. Wasted money or what? This, however, is not my point. I am not having a go at Newcastle, their players or the manger. They have done nothing wrong and I am not slagging them off. I can’t. I don’t understand football, and I don’t follow it, so I can’t form an opinion on them if I don’t know what I am talking about.

My point is that the 50 MILLION POUNDS that was used to buy two footballer players could have been put to better use. There are countless millions of people sitting in cardboard boxes around the world, people starving, dying, living in germs, disease, poverty and crap conditions, and generally living a miserable life. That money would have made so much difference to them. I am sure that £50 million pounds would have brightened peoples faces at MAKE POVERTY HISTORY, let alone the people on the other side of the world, who have suddenly got decent homes and lives to live through now. What leaves me speechless – that is such a stupid saying. I am not speechless. I could rant for ages. – is that footballers get paid upwards of a million a week. There are countless things that annoy me about this.

  1. They get paid a million a week. What do they need this amount of money for?
  2. They are never ever going to spend all of that money.
  3. They are not doing anything special or particularly worthwhile. They aren’t saving lives, performing medical miracles or even doing anything for the community. They just kick a ball at the net.
  4. No one is worth a million a week.
  5. People around the world are dying. They could use the money.
  6. So could charities to help the people around the world.
  7. If they do give away money to charity, they do it for more publicity, not for the people who are dying,
  8. They are selfish, smelly, beep beep, beeping beepers e.t.c

I do not follow football because I don agree with it. Players shouldn’t be paid, traded and sacked for millions of pounds. It is plain wrong. In fact it is more than wrong. It is immoral, preposterous, ludicrous, stupid, absurd, silly, outrageous, and, quoting from my English essay on English icons, verging on the edge of a cliff called ridiculous. It is not the manager’s fault solely if the club loose a game, and he shouldn’t be sacked if the club do loose a match.

If all the footballers, clubs, managers, fans e.t.c gave all their millions to charities and organisations like MAKE POVERRTY HISTORY, I am sure that everyone in the world could have a house, food, clean water, a decent education, and everything else that we take for granted in our lovely world. Instead, players are paid millions every week, clubs trade and sell players for millions and mangers get fired because a club lost a game. What a very sad state of affairs surround us.

General Ramblings

Please note: I typed this blog post ages ago, but didn't get round to uploading it until now. This eans that some of this may not make sense. Just read it like you have gone back about a week or two.

Well, I don’t know where to begin. Christmas has come and gone, and we are already in 2006. 2005 was last year, and I am going to be another year older (as all are). There are lots of things I could talk about, but one of the most important ones is what I am going to say now, so that is why this is the first thing.
After several, um, complaints (!) from a particular person that my blog entries are so funny she laughs really loudly and then gets kicked out of the library, I have decided to categorise my blog entries. (Of course, this is one possible solution to the problem, there are lots more, e.g. the particular person could read my blog somewhere else but we won’t go into that. The categories I have come up with so far are:

· General Ramblings - Theses posts will be like my personal diary.
· Moans and Groans - Self-explanatory.
· Humorous Stuff – e.g. jokes, funny stories, possibly quotes.
· Quotes – any size shape and form
· Other/Misc – stuff that doesn’t fit in (the other categories).

I also plan to put ‘humorous content’ or maybe have a humorous rating at the top of the post, so that the particular person has no excuse for getting thrown out of the library.

As I write this, there is snow falling outside my window but when you read this there probably won’t be. It looks really pretty, and there is quite a lot falling; it is quite heavy, but it isn’t settling.

I have been doing maths coursework today – 2 of 2. It means that I am ahead of the others – except for Rich, as I am working with him - and so the time that I won’t have to spend on maths coursework when the others do it can be spent on something else. I hope so anyway. It is quite easy at the moment, just manipulating data in Excel. I type in the data, type in the formulas, and Excel does the rest. ‘Bingo’.
I have to start my citizenship c/w (also 2 of 2) soon, which is writing up my participation on something. I am going to do my work experience, as I went to the SNJ. Over this weekend I also have to do geography – circuit flow diagram things – and (more) French. Lets start a new paragraph.

French. J’ai deteste ca. I have just done 1 piece of coursework, and now we have moved on to the next one. The good thing is that I have this second one all done; I did it ages ago. Others don’t, but that is not my problem. I just have to check it over this weekend and then hand the final copy in for Wednesday. It should be relatively easy, as I have already had it checked once already. The good thing is that the coursework gets me out of the writing part of the exam, but it also means that if I miss one singular deadline for the coursework, I go straight back into the writing exam – something I really don’t want.
The pain in the bum part of French is the learning lots of crap for the oral. I have to learn one presentation, (I have basically, but I have to refresh it in my mind again), and shit loads of questions and answers. I have 5 A4 pages, double sided, of questions and answers to learn, and the great thing is, I don’t have the foggiest which questions the examiner is going to ask me. Great. Fantastic. The speaking/listening/reading parts of the exam are the bits I am hating, as there is so much learning to do, and I am so crap at French that I know I am going to fail. One way of looking at it is that I am going to fail a subject I didn’t want to do, and never will use again, so I suppose it doesn’t matter.
I think I am going to do a different post about coursework, as I have so much to say, including geography (its all over!) and others. >>It’s still snowing, but not as heavy now.

So, not only do I have to do French over the weekend, I also have to do geography, possible citizenship, I have already done my maths, and probably more French, as I have to learn the first page of my oral questions. L’environment. How exciting. Never mind, moving on.

Many things have happened over Christmas, and in the Christmas Holidays. I went to see the Chronicles of Narnia with A at Stroud. That was a good film, but probably needs a separate post. I have quite a list now: - Films Good and Bad (HP and Chronicles), Christmas Presents e.t.c, as well as possible another post on the coursework situation. Oh, and I did say that I was going to do one for mock exam results didn’t I? All in good time. I won’t go into Christmas presses here, as that will be in another post. I might do one about work experience. Last year was so long ago (see what I mean) and I haven’t posted very much at all, so I really should fill the world in with everything that has been going on in my life. It is going to take a long time though, so just hang about. Keep reading, and keep posting. I am going to end here; it seems like a good place to end and I can’t remember anything else of what I was going to say, so it seems like a place to stop.
