Badminton is my cup of tea (Sport Thoughts).

I spent 2 solid hours on Tuesday playing badminton, which was fun, if not a little tiring. This happened because I had a PE lesson before lunch, so I carried on playing through lunch after period 4 had finished.
I like badminton because it is a sport I can do; it’s pretty simple and doesn’t require much thinking. Of course, you get serves and areas and scoring, all of which have different rules and things to do and remember, but that is what makes it part of the game. I think that this is very annoying to me, as I just play for fun, to relax and enjoy hitting the shuttlecock over the net to the other person, and they hitting it back to me, so that the cycle can start again.
Badminton isn’t very tactical, unlike other sports, and even someone like me who is not a sporty person, can play, as all you have to do is to hit the shuttlecock over the net. Of course you get people who hit the damn thing all over the place, which takes the fun out of playing for me, but then some people are more competitive than others.
All though I am a creative person at heart – I love writing, (you should have guessed that by now) particularly stories and poems – I don’t see myself as sporty. This may be because I just don’t play sports – for many reasons – or just because it’s just not my cup of tea.

(Oh, this reminds me of a joke I made up some time ago, and I haven’t told anyone yet, so I am going to sidetrack at a tangent to tell the internet now. It goes like this:

Person A: Do you like hot chocolate?
Person B: It’s not my cup of tea.
Person A: What is then?
Person B: A cup of coffee.

Not exactly a really funny joke, but I did make it up, and I am really proud of it. Lol!)

Anyway, where was I? Oh yes, sports and badminton.

In games lessons, I like to play hockey, (this may be passed down through my father’s jeans, as he played hockey too (woops sorry lol, I meant genes!) as it is so much fun. Although it involves all sorts of tactics (i.e. what to do with the ball) you don’t get hurt very much (if your careful). Sport is fun, as it allows you to relax and unwind, while being competitive with your mates, but it is only fun if you don’t get hurt in any way. Why do people like to play violent sports, like rugby? I suppose it allows them to let out their anger and violence, or else, thinking like the other pupils in y11, it allows them to hurt other people and take them out.
I despise, detest, loathe and hate rugby, all with a passion:

(Mathematical formula = Despise, detest, loathe, hate(rugby with a passion) = LWGW.

Work that out!) Yet I still have to play it. Rugby is so rough and violent. Do people play rugby to deliberately get hurt, or is because they want to show the world that they are really hard and play a mans sport?

HA ha ha !!! That joke did make me giggle but i have no idea why? coz it is slightly on the bad side lol !!!

I am not a sporty person either and when i was at school i used to get put with the person who had as much hand eye coordination as a baby with a boxing glove! So it sucked! Badminton, tennis and netball are my fav sports. I did used to like hockey but then somone hit me in the mouth with there hocky ball and my teeth went through my lip and it all got rather messy so i avoid hockey like the plague!

Rugby at my school used to be the same nearly every week the ambulance paid a visit to my school. I dont see the point really its just aggresivly violent for no apparent reason. I did used to play touch rugby when i was at primary school that was quite entertaining and i was good at it so it rocked my socks off but you wouldn't catch me playing it now lol.

I think PE teachers discriminate against pupils if they are not the best at a certain sport. I was always put as reserve on the netball team becasue i was fat so therfore i couldnt play? Where is the logic in that? Another thing i found was if you sucked at a sport then you would get stuck in the worst positions ever like being a WING in netball SUCKY!!!!!
